I’m looking into purchasing another camera body. This would be my backup camera and/or alternate camera.
Let me start by saying “I love my Canon 5D Mark III!” It’s a magnificent body and when I pair it with great glass, I can easily produces professional images.
It (and quality lenses) can be heavy, loud, and at times screams ‘look at me’. The weight issue can be a challenge sometimes. Especially after I finish photographing an 8 hour wedding. Because of these issues, I explored the Fujifilm X-T1 mirrorless camera. It’s lightweight, quiet, and doesn’t draw attention.
I had the opportunity to demo this camera and various quality lenses. There was a learning curve to this camera, as I am very family with canon and had to learn the intricacies of the X-T1. After familiarizing myself with the controls, I started playing and took lots of pictures.
I was very impressed with all the lenses as pictures came out sharp. I enjoyed the easy access to the control buttons and wheels on the body and really took a liking to the electronic viewfinder on this little camera.
I struggled with the lag time between pictures and the camera’s ability to tract subjects. But honestly, these small issue would easily be resolved if I had more time to gain experience and thoroughly understand the cameras functions, controls, and customize it to my liking.
I am on the fence to whether I buy the Fujifilm X-T1 and lense OR another Canon 5D Mark III.
Here are some images from my time with the Fujifilm X-T1.
