Styling & Planning
STEP ONE
From the moment you inquire, you’ll feel well prepared and taken care of. I’ll send over information in an email and invite you to schedule a phone consultation so that we can go over any questions or special requests you may have.
I’ll help you choose the perfect outfit for your session and even style the rest of the family (if desired)! We can pull from the studio wardrobe collection, select something from your own closet, or shop for something special.
We also decide on the best location for our amazing session. Portrait Sessions are either held in my Owen Sound Studio, outside at a picturesque spot, or at your home. I work with you to choose the best location. Please scroll down to view pricing options:
Your Session
STEP TWO
Your portrait session is a time to relax and enjoy yourself and your family! You can rest assured that I’ll be giving you plenty of direction throughout the shoot to ensure that we get natural and relaxed portraits!
Sometimes pets, babies and kids need a little extra time. That’s why I never impose a strict limit on our time together; your session is done when we have a full gallery of beautiful images for you.
Proofing & Image Selection
STEP 3
I know how excited you are to see your portraits! That’s why I get your proofs to you right away.
Option A) From the comfort of your home you will receive an online proofing gallery with an attached print shop to order your heirloom prints and wall art. Now, you must have a computer/laptop for this option as it doesn’t work on your phone.
I deliver your private online watermarked proofing gallery within 1 week of your session. This proofing gallery is active for 3 weeks. Take some time with your family to enjoy your portraits and choose your favourites. You will have the opportunity to pick a package, choose your favourite photos and order additional prints, wall art and albums.
Proofs are not edited as I will edit the ones you choose. The watermark is to say that they are proofs and are not purchased yet. Please do not screenshot them.
Option B) In-studio Premiere and Ordering Session held 1-2 weeks later. For a more personalized experience, you come back to my studio for an in-person premiere & ordering session. I help you choose your favourite portraits and right size and art work for your home.

Retouching & Delivery
STEP FOUR
This is where the magic happens. Once you’ve selected your images, each portrait is hand-retouched to create your one-of-a-kind portrait memory. I remove leashes, electrical outlets (these are often in my studio photos), blemishes and other distractions. I am a skilled retoucher where I specialize in subtle editing for natural-looking portraits. You’ll look like the very best version of yourselves!
Within 4 weeks of you submitting your choices, you will receive another online gallery with your fully edited, high resolution digital files. Oh and you will receive both colour and black and white versions. Your digital files are yours to download, share, and print as you like.you will receive .
Creating Your Heirlooms

Deciding what to do with your images can be overwhelming. That’s why I offer a carefully curated line of heirloom quality prints and products. You can order these straight from your gallery OR I’ll help you choose the perfect way to display and enjoy your treasured photographs.
For those families that want guidance on choosing art work for your home, your session includes a complimentary artwork design appointment in my studio. And yes, even if you are only wanting a single framed print to hang in your home, or a heirloom wall gallery over your couch, or an album of your favourite images, I can help custom design it.

If you have been navigation the web and looking at lots of photographers, I bet you have noticed that the price is all over the map.
I am a big fan of both digital files, prints, making it easy to get both, and customized service to suite your needs.
So, I keep it simple. You pay $300 session fee at time of booking. This covers pre planning & preparation for your session, your amazing no time limit session, curation of all the best proofs, and either an in-studio appointment or an online proofing gallery to view and order your beautiful heirloom portraits. It also comes with a professional matted 5×7 print.
7 days after your session, you see your proofing gallery, you only buy what you want. Yep that’s right! You choose the images you love and want: No more buying pictures you don’t love and will never use or display.
Families typically spend $1000+ on their photography experience. Digital Files and products are NOT included in session fee. You buy these when you see your proofs.

Beautiful Matted Archival Prints & Portrait Boxes
These prints are printed on archival paper, with archival ink and have a laminate product on them so they don’t fade (traditional loose prints don’t have any of this). They are a luxury product so that you have them forever.

I am concerned about our wardrobe, what should we wear?
I want everyone to feel comfortable and relaxed in their own skin. Thus I tell families to dress in cloths that feel good. Hehe but try and stay in the same colour tones…you don’t have to be matchy-mathchy. I also recommend avoiding bold & bright patterns & colours. These tend to be very distracting.
To help you prepare and plan your wardrobe, I send you an email with some hints and tips.
My dog or kids won’t sit still.
Hehe, almost all dogs and kids run around for 90% of the session. And that’s fine with me. I love to take candid photos of them playing.
I also have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to get dogs & kids to sit still…and then I get my shot.
And for your dog, he or she is generally on leash for the shoot….and then I edit the leash out of the photos 😉
How long does it take for me to see the photos and for you to edit the images?
I know you’re excited to see your photos. Thus I work hard to get you your photos quickly.
About 7 days after your session you will receive an email with a link to view your proofing gallery. Yep I am that fast.
For families that that don’t have a working computer or laptop, I invite you back to my studio 1-2 weeks later to view your proofs. At this time I help you choose your favourite images, and give you guidance in choosing the best sizes, products, and images for wall collages, This in-person appointments is included in your session fee. And it’s perfect, if you want a little more one-on-one.
Do I get a USB with all my photos?
I used to give USBs to my families. BUT, I found that sometimes the USB was corrupted or lost. Thus, now All photos are delivered to you in an online gallery. You then download them to your computer and/or phone. I recommend downloading them to multiple devices for safe keeping. You are also free to send your photo gallery to family and friends. Hehehe, I bet they will be excited to see them too.
If you would like a USB, they can be purchased for $35 🙂
Are digital files included in the session fee?
Ah great question. Digital Files are bought after you pay a session fee. The session fee covers the prep work leading up to your session, emails helping you prepare, style guides, a fun and stress-free session, and then either an online proofing gallery or in-person premiere to view and order your favourite images.
I understand the value of digital files to my families. I’ve set my business up so that you ONLY buy what you love and want. So after you see your proofs, you buy the digital files you fall in love with. No more buying images you don’t want.
What are digital files (also called digital images)? And what’s the difference between web-sized digital files and high resolution digital files?
A digital file/image is an electronic version of a physical print. It allows you to store and see your photo on your computer, phone, iPad, etc. It is NOT a physical print thought. You can get different sizes of digital files; web-sized (low resolution) or printing (high resolution) digital files.
Web-sized digital files – these are perfect if you’re only wanting to share your photos on social media or keep them on your computer/phone. These CANNOT be printed as they are too small. They look great on your computer/phone BUT if you try printing them they will not look good. Most often, they will look ‘dotty’ or blurry.
High Resolution (printing) digital files – these are really big files. They are perfect if you want to do your own printing; at anytime and anyplace. You get full control of when and where you want to print your photos. You do not have to print thru Candra Schank Photography. Please do not take them to Walmart though. More times than not, your photos will not look the same as what you see on your computer. This is directly related to their printing system. I recommend Foto Art in Owen Sound. They have great customer service and great print products.
