Weddings are a celebration.  A celebration of love and life together.  A celebration of families coming together.

It was a pleasure to photograph Adrienne and Ricks romantic and intimate wedding at Serenity Cottage in December.  It truly was a winter wonderland wedding.  Up until a few days before the wedding, Owen Sound and surrounding areas were green and brown.  Not particularly a ‘look’ one wants for a Winter wedding. But Mother Nature was good to them, and made it snow.  Now, it didn’t just snow. it SNOWED! It snowed for days, covering everything will a crisp clean white snow blanket. Just what everyone wanted.

Adrienne and Rick wanted a cottage wedding with an outdoors feel.  They wanted somewhere beautiful and intimate and Serenity Cottage (http://lakefrontcottage.ca/serenity-luxury-cottage-rental/)was exactly that with a rustic and warm feeling.  The moment you stepped into the main cottage you felt cozy and comfortable.

Now, Adrienne and Rick are actually from the Oakville area, and their family was coming up from Oakville, Toronto, and other southern towns.  So, the snow didn’t make it easy for everyone to get there.  But everyone made it for the wedding.  And what a beautiful wedding it was. Close family and friends attended the weekend wedding and watched a family exchange vows and commit to each other.  The ceremony was elegant and sweet.  Afterwards, Adrienne and Rick braved the cold winter weather and enjoyed a photo session outside by the lake.  This was such an amazing time as the new husband and wife had some time alone, for the first time as a married couple. We didn’t want posed shots, instead we wanted to capture the moment and love between them.  So I gave some direction and then stepped back and let them become lost in each other’s eyes and arms.  And oh my goodness, did they ever get lost.  They forgot that I was there and made memories that were caught on camera.  These types of unposed photos are always mine and my bride and groom’s favourite shots.

I received a very nice Facebook comment from one of the family members when they saw some images of the newly married couple taken outside:
“What a gorgeous photo. Man, those outdoor shots looked so cold, but you were right! These are the most beautiful wedding photos I have ever seen. Such a great job!”

After the bride and groom photos everyone mingled inside exchanging stories and playing cards.  And then it was dinner time.  Oh my, this must have been one of the best wedding dinners I ever had.  It definitely made my top 5 list.  And the guest all agreed with me as I heard them talking about how good everything was.  The wedding was catered by Red Hot Catering ([email protected] or 519-371-8917), with soup and salad as starters and then you chose from either stuffed chicken, succulent roast beef, or cooked to perfection salmon.  All three main courses were delicious!  And then the dessert…a mouth-watering cheese cake.  A great dinner for a beautiful wedding.

I still remember this wedding and will continue to post photos from it because it was a day full of so many precious moments.
A great wedding to end 2016 with a bang.

Congratulations to Adrienne and Rick and their family.  All the best in 2017 and onwards.
