FAQs all about ‘pet photography’ with Candra
WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHER ARE YOU? Well, firstly, I am a lifestyle pet photographer, that captures both candid and guided poses of your pet (and you). My work has a fun, authentic, soft and sentimental feeling; with a fine art quality. I combine traditional and lifestyle techniques to capture genuine images of your pet that you will treasure.
HOW MUCH DOES ALL OF THIS COST? You begin by choosing one of three sessions. The session has a non-refundable fee that confirms your spot in my calendar. However, fees from both my Great Outdoors and Modern Hound sessions, turn into a 100% product credit at your Premier & Ordering Appointment. And there is no minimum order. We work together to create a product order that is perfect for you, your desires, and budget. Typically, families invest between $600 to $1500 in prints and products. Here are the different session (and prices) I offer:
- Great Outdoors Session: If you’re looking to decorate your home with beautiful portraits of your pet and family, The Great Outdoors Session, is perfect for you. It gives you’re the full experience, no time constraints and lots of amazing photos. You pay $350 to book your session, and then that $350 turns into a 100% product credit at your photo premier and ordering session. Whoop- whoop.
- Modern Hound Session: If you’re looking for a shorter session and maybe one piece of art work or a few digital files, my Modern Hound Session is ideal. The session fee is $250, which also turns into a product credit at your Premier & Ordering Appointment.
- Thirdly, if you’re a do-it-yourself pet parent, my All Inclusive Digital File Package $1100.00 would be perfect. This price includes your session and ALL of the digital files. A $350 retainer is due when booking to secure your session date.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I BOOK? AND, HOW DO I BOOK?I like to book 3-6 weeks in advance so that we can properly plan for an amazing experience. This allows us to work together to create a one-of-a-kind custom experience.
Once you’re ready to book, fill out my session inquiry form on my Contact Page or give me a call at 519-387-3764. The Session fee is required at the time of booking to secure your photo shoot on the calendar. This can be paid via e-transfer.
CAN I GET DIGITAL FILES? If your end goal is to have access to the digital files, you sure can. You can invest in my All Inclusive Digital File Package ($1100.00). This comes with 100+ beautifully edited, ready to be printed, high resolution digital files. Whoop Whoop. Or when you invest in Wall Art, You always get the high resolution digital file.
And if you choose my The Great Outdoors OR Modern Hound Sessions, I have digital file packages that start at $595. They also come with all of my signature collections.
HOW LONG BEFORE I SEE THE PHOTOS? I know that you will be excited to see your photos so I strive to have them all edited within 2 weeks of your session. Thus, I invite you back to my studio 2 weeks after for a fun Premier and Ordering Session.
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHICH IMAGES GO IN MY GALLERY FROM OUR SESSION? Even though I might take 500+ images at your session, I personally select the best images to edit and show you. I am looking for images that represent me as an artist and your family, as each is unique.
DO YOU OFFER MINI-SESSIONS? Typically, I don’t offer the traditional mini sessions, but I do hold Limited Edition sessions a few times a year. These are shorter in duration and a lower booking fee. Join my VIP Lounge Mailing list to receive my newsletter which informs you of upcoming promotions.
I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I WANT TO DISPLAY MY PHOTOS. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS? That’s the beauty of working with me; a professional pet photographer. I can help you with this as there are many possibilities to display your images in your home. We work together to create something that fits perfectly into your home. You can decorate your home with beautiful framed canvases, framed fine art prints or luxury photo albums that will fit your home.
I believe in seeing, and touching physical things so that you are well educated about your options. Therefore, throughout the experience, you will have the opportunity to see, touch, hold, and feel many of the different product I have. You will definitely see everything at our Meet & Greet and Premier & Ordering session.
HOW FAR WILL YOU TRAVEL FOR A SESSION? If you’re wanting an outdoor session, happy dance, photography has no borders. I travel all over Grey Bruce and Simcoe counties, at no extra charge. This includes but not limited to: Owen Sound, Meaford, Collingwood, Southampton, Port Elgin, Kincardine, Markdale, Hanover, and beyond. If you feel you are ‘to far away’ please contact me, as I’d still love to work together to make this happen. At the very least, there may be a lodging fee.
Or if you’re wanting a studio session, my studio is located in Owen Sound. If you’re coming from a far, I often recommend that you make a day of it. I provide you with lots of cool and interesting things to do and go.
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD ON THE DAY? You and me both don’t want to get wet 😉 And ultimately, the quality and style of my images relies on beautiful natural light. Thus, if you chose The Great Outdoors Session and the weather isn’t agreeable (it’s raining, high winds, to cold/hot, threat of storms) we will probably need to reschedule the session to another day. But, you can also choose to have your photo session in my loft studio. Then we don’t have to worry about rain, wind, and snow.
Keep in mind, during the Spring or Fall rainy season, we may need to reschedule multiple times, so please be patient with this process 😉
HOW DO I CHOOS A LOCATION? I’ll work with you to determine the best possible location suited to you and your pet. We will discuss on-location, studio, and at-home options. Each location gives a different experience and ‘look & feel’ to your pet portraits.
On-location: It’s so true…location location location. Beautiful locations really have a wonderful affect on the final look of your images. I always recommend considering picturesque spots such as your Local Park, beach or trendy urban area.
Studio: If you’re looking for classic modern portraits, we can have your pet session in my beautiful studio. My studio also offers a safe, quiet, and weather-free option 😉
At-home: A home environment can sometimes be the best option for young or elderly dogs/cats, or those lacking in confidence. However, a good source of natural light is a must. Open shade under trees, covered decks are perfect and provide soft and filtered light. If we are inside, I look for uncluttered rooms with big windows.
DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS? You Betcha! I completely understand sticking to a budget. Thus, I offer interest-free payment plans on all product orders. I set up a bi-weekly or monthly payment plan that is completed within 3-4 months of the ordering session. The first payment will be due at the ordering session and you will receive convenient email reminders when your next payments are due.
DO YOU OFFER GIFT CERTIFICATES? You guessed it…YEPPERS – I offer beautiful custom designed gift certificates that include the session fee plus an order credit for the recipient to spend on prints and products.
