Apply below for your dog/s chance to be included in our upcoming “Tails of Georgian Bay” coffee table book.
We are looking for a variety of dog breeds, colours, sizes, and personalities to be featured.
For just $99 + HST, you will receive a photo session either in the Candra Schank Photography studio or at a scenic outdoor location around Georgian Bay, a 5in x 7in print of your choice and you will have bragging rights with your dog gracing the pages of the hottest book release in town.
The usual cost of this session is $175 so that’s a saving of $76. This price is only for July and August.
And what’s the best part? 50% of the $99 donation goes directly to Owen Sound NICU. Plus, the book will be sold to raise even more funds for the Owen Sound NICU, making this a special opportunity to give back while capturing beautiful portraits of your dog.
What’s the catch? There isn’t one but sessions are limited to 30 pets and once the pages are filled applications will close. So far we have 18 dogs registered so 12 spots remain.

What is ‘TAILS OF GEORGIAN BAY 2025’?
The second ‘Tails Of Georgian Bay’ coffee table book will celebrate our pets and the unwavering bond we share with them. Each portrait will highlight the amazing and oh-so-unique personalities of your loved dogs. What’s more, stories of these beautiful souls will accompany their portraits so that everyone can read about how amazing they are.
Please note, pet sessions will take place either at Candra’s Owen Sound Studio or at an outside area in/near Owen Sound, Ontario.
The vital information:
- What’s the cost? $99 +HST
- What does the fee include? A pet photography session with Candra Schank Photography, a 5in x 7in print of your choice, and a full-page spread in our 2025 ‘Tails Of Georgian Bay’ coffee table book
- Where does it happen? Sessions will be held either in Candra Schank Photography’s studio or outside in a beautiful Georgin Bay location.
- Who can apply? All dogs and their families in and around Georgian Bay (Owen Sound and area) are welcome to apply.
- Who can be in the photos? Photos can be of just your dog, or your dog and a family member, or you can include the whole family.
- How does this help charity? $50 will be donated to the Owen Sound NICU
- What happens to the book? Coffee Table Books will be for sale to participants and the public.
- To choose your photo, you will have a zoom meeting with Candra. At this time you will review all proofs and pick your favourite. And if you want to buy additional photos you can during that call. Often people invest a minimum of $500 on their portraits.
The ‘Tails Of Georgian Bay’ coffee table book will be designed, self-published, and professionally printed by Candra Schank with a potential Spring 2026 release goal.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Where
All sessions will take place at either Candra Schank Photography’s studio (1190 2nd ave East, Owen Sound), or your own home, or at a picturesque spot in Owen Sound.
What’s included
A Candra Schank Photography studio portrait session. These sessions are available on weekdays and a few weekends at various times.
A double page spread in the Tails Of Georgian Bay book featuring our favourite photo of your pet/family and their unique story. Candra will be choosing the photo that accompanies your write up.
You will have the opportunity to buy a book once the project is all done. This book will be designed and published when all the sessions have been completed. There is no time-limit. BUT Candra is hoping that the book is designed and printed by the end of November so that it is available by Christmas.
A week or so after your session you will get to see your unedited photos for the first time via zoom or an in-person meeting at Candra’s studio. When you see your photos you will have the opportunity to buy digital file packages, prints, wall art and albums.
Participation Cost
$99 +hst (valued at $175 +hst)
There is no additional cost to add on family photo session or include other children or pets in the session who aren’t’ going in the book.
I do like to be open and honest, this is a charity fundraiser I am running through my business…it’s a way for me and you to support our community. And it is still a fun professional photoshoot where families get to have a fabulous time and receive a complimentary 5×7 print. And if you love more of your photos you can purchase digital file packages and/or beautiful wall art or albums for their home.
What’s not included
The photos taken during your photoshoot are not included in the participation fee. Only a 5×7 print is included.

Who will be taking your pet’s photos
Candra Schank will be your personal photographer for this book project. She has been voted the Platinum Best of Best Photography in Owen Sound.
How will we photograph your pet
Pets and family members just want to be themselves. Thats all they know. Dogs love being dogs and Cats love being cats. LOL well usually. Therefore, Candra strives to capture your 2 and 4 legged family members being themselves…this showcases their amazing personalities.
Candra will send you a questionnaire to learn about your pet and family and use this information to create custom portraits. Candra may or may not incorporate props into the photo. Each session is custom designed
How to prepare
Candra will send you an email to get you all prepared and excited for your session. This email is jam backed with information.
A FEW THINGS TO NOTE
1) Tails of Georgian Bay will be published, so you must be willing to give us permission to display photographs of your pet and family in print and online. If you don’t want your image to be published, then your spot will be given to another family.
The Tails Of Georgian Bay participation fee is $99 +hst per session
We are aiming to complete 30+ sessions from now and throughout 2025 and 2026.
Your booking will be subject to terms and conditions and other policies, which you can review during the booking process.
My dog/cat/children won’t sit still.
Hehe, almost all animals and kids run & walk around for 90% of the session. And that’s fine with me. I love to take candid photos of them playing.
I also have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to get everyone to sit still…and then I get my shot.
Do I have to buy digital files, or prints & albums through you?
No! with your participation session fee you get a 5×7 print. I completely understand if you only want to be featured in the book, however. If you love your photos you will have the opportunity to buy digital photos and wall art and albums and part of the proceeds from these sales will also go to the Owen Sound NICU.

Heirloom Photo Albums
When you’re interested in a Photo album, I photograph your pet playing, cuddling, scratching ears, that adorable head tilt, and much more. Thus, all the images from your photo session are lovingly crafted into a beautiful high quality photo album that truly tells the story of your pet.
Album pages are beautifully thick (oh la la) and images are professionally printed
on fine art, lustre archival paper, rated to 75 years. These albums are a show-stopper piece of art – that is all about your pet
Bamboo Folio Heirloom Boxes
Family Favourite! This is a beautiful heirloom wooden bamboo box. It contains 10-20 matted 5×7 prints. You can choose to frame these yourself, keep some in the keepsake box, and/or display them in the matching wooden photos stand. You can also upgrade the box from Bamboo to Timber Wood and add hand-torm edges to your photos.
Framed Canvas Wall Art
Yes, you read it right. They are framed! I love the polished and finished look of a
framed canvas. And I want you to have them too. Framed canvases are versatile
and look great in every home. All canvases are laminated to reduce fading.
I also sell canvases without frames. In fact, the unframed version is more popular 😉
Framed Print Wall Art
Okay, this is my favourite…and my clients’ favourite. Whether you’re looking for a modern or traditional feel, framed wall art easily achieves that. Simply by changing the colour or style of frame will complete the look you are going for. Personally, I think a simple white frame looks good anywhere, but I also offer black,grey, brown, and many more looks and styles.
Portraits are printed on fine art paper, mounted, laminated and presented behind
acrylic with a dust backing to seal the wall art. Instead of glass, I use acrylic as it’s light and won’t shatter. This is important in homes with active dogs, cats or even children as wall art can sometimes be knocked off the wall 😉

If you’re looking for individual prints, I offer luxury professional print packages. All prints are mounted on styrene (or matted) for a professional look and laminated so they don’t fade.
