Often families schedule individual family & pet sessions and maternity & newborn sessions. Each session is full of amazing moments and experiences. And in the end, families decorate their home with beautiful wall portraits and albums from their photo sessions.
And more and more often, I receive inquires for extended family sessions.
What is an Extended Family Session?
These are session that captures a multi-generation family portrait. This portrait can include Grandma & Grandpa, all of their children, and the children of their children. LOL and so on! And yes, all the fur-babies are welcome.
Not only will a big Family Group portrait be taken, but portraits of each individual family, the children of those families, single and smaller group photos, sibling photos and my favourite, cousin (also called grand-children) photos.
Each extended family session is unique and custom created just for you. We discuss and create a photo list so that you get all the different family member combinations you desire. We start off by getting traditional family portraits and then easily and effortlessly get fun candid, playful poses. My goal is to provide each family with a collection of portraits that tell their family story. And then families often decorate their home with portrait wall collages or display a beautiful family album on their coffee table.
Below are a series of photos from an extended family session. Mom…a.k.a Grandma gifted her family this extended family session for Christmas. Her son and daughter-in-law just had twins (a boy and a girl), and her daughter’s boys were growing like weeds. She really wanted to captured this precious time in her growing families lives…and new that a fun family photo experience would do just that.
